Future Talent Awards: Introducing Two‑Year Awards for Young Musicians

We’re excited to share an important update to the Future Talent Programme as we open applications for the next round of awards on Wednesday 25th February!
February 20, 2026

What's changing?

From this year onwards, Future Talent awards will run for two years instead of one. This means the young musicians on our programmes will have greater stability and continuity as they move through important stages of their musical development.

Why the change?

We know that consistency makes a real difference. By offering awards over two years, we can build stronger relationships with young musicians and their families, support their progress more effectively, and take away the pressure of having to reapply every year. A longer award period also gives us more time to shape support around each musician, so they can make the most of the opportunities available through the programme.

Improving our application process

Previous applicants may notice some updates to the application form this year. We have introduced a small number of more focused questions about each young musician’s access to musical opportunities and experiences so far.

These changes help us gain a clearer picture of every applicant’s background and ensure that the programme meets their individual needs. Our aim remains to make the process as straightforward as possible while gathering the information we need to continue offering meaningful, well‑targeted support.

Applications for the next award cycle will open on Wednesday 25th February and close on Friday 24th April. We encourage applicants to begin early so there is plenty of time to gather all the information required.
